Supermarket Tycoon Is Now the Renowned President of Panama

Ricardo Martinelli, the multimillionaire personality and a high profiled owner of a popular supermarket chain, was inaugurated as Panama president on Wednesday. He was inaugurated as the reputed president of Panama after he gained victory over his opponent candidate who was representing the ruling center-left party. Jose Luis Varela, the National Assembly President, announced an inaugural ceremony and placed the presidential sash on Martinelli. Throughout the inauguration, Varela states that “the Panama’s citizens want to do things in a different manner”. During Martinelli’s first speech as Panama president, he promised a really smaller budget of government but an appreciable raise for the public workers. Martinelli also promised to give the first priority to the public safety. He added “Our prisons will not be the criminals’ schools but the rehabilitation centers”. Additionally, he also included “Panama will operate in accompany of Colombia as well as Mexico with an attempt of combating the serious issue of drug trafficking that are often noticed in the region”.
Among the notables at the swearing in was former President of Honduran, Jose Manuel Zelaya, who was expelled in a military-led coup on Sunday. The coup was condemned by the Organization of American States and Zelaya still continued to perform his presidential responsibilities.
Martinelli, better to be called the son of the Italian immigrants, is currently on his 57 and has been able to stand as a successful business icon among many arising businessmen out there. He is one among such businessmen who made their way to success on their own without remaining under the supervision of anybody else. At present, he is a renewed chairman of the Super 99 supermarket chain, which is no doubt one among the largest private organizations in the entire Panama.
For your kind information, Martinelli defeated Balbina Herrera, the opponent candidate of ruling-party, securing around 60 % of the total votes and won the title of president.
